What is astrocartography?
Astrocartography (also called locational astrology) is a technique created by Jim Lewis in 1978. It maps where each planet in your birth chart sits on one of the four major angles (ASC, DSC, MC, IC) at the moment of your birth. These planetary lines stretch across the globe, and each one activates different life themes depending on the planet and angle involved.
Do I need to live on a line for it to affect me?
No — planetary lines have an orb of influence of roughly 300-700 km (200-450 miles) on either side. Even visiting a location near your lines for a short time can activate their energy. The effect is strongest within about 200 km of the line itself.
Which are the best lines for relocation?
The "big three" for relocation are Jupiter MC (career growth and luck), Venus DSC (love and relationships), and Moon IC (emotional comfort and home). Sun MC is also excellent for overall vitality and recognition. Saturn lines can be productive but demanding. Mars lines bring energy but can also bring conflict. Pluto lines catalyze deep transformation.
What about line crossings?
Where two planetary lines cross, both planets' energies combine and intensify. A Venus-Jupiter crossing is considered one of the luckiest spots on Earth for you — combining love and abundance. A Mars-Pluto crossing, however, can be extremely intense and is generally best avoided for long-term residence.
How accurate is this calculation?
Our calculations use the Swiss Ephemeris (the gold standard in astrological computation) and your exact birth time. The more precise your birth time, the more accurate your lines — particularly the ASC and DSC curves, which are most sensitive to birth time. MC and IC lines are primarily determined by planetary positions and are less affected by small time variations.
